God wants you to take a step closer to Him, spiritually. That could mean accepting Him as Lord and Savior, getting baptized, committing to reading your Bible daily, discovering how God wants to use you to help others, or learning more about God’s plan for your life. We offer classes to help you in these areas. These are ‘gateways’ to help you grow closer to God and learn more about COTR.

Gateways

“Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity…” Heb. 6:1

The Gateway series consists of four classes that will enrich your life and bring you closer to Christ. Strengthen your commitment to Christ, and to do His will. Learn how to bring Him into your day-to-day experiences, in order to live a successful and fulfilling life. Discover your place in ministry by examining your spiritual gifts, passion, personality, and abilities. Define your life mission so you have a clear roadmap on your spiritual path to God.

This is an introduction to Christianity and Church on the Rock.  You will learn about salvation (what God has done for us), our core values (why we exist as a church, and our statements -how COTR fulfills the purposes of the church).  You will also learn about structure and Pastoral Care at COTR. At the end of class, you will be given the opportunity to join COTR by completing and signing the membership covenant.

During this class we will focus on five basic habits Christians need to develop in their movement towards spiritual maturity. This class focuses on the habits of a daily time with God, reading God’s word, talking with God, giving back to God, and enjoying God’s family.  This is an interactive class with the goal of teaching you how to start and maintain these habits.

Did you know that God created you with special gifts intended for His purposes? God designed you for a special place in ministry.  This class is designed to help you discover how God made you. God gave you a unique S. H. A. P. E. for the work He has called you to do. Discover your Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences to minister to the needs of others.  

Discover your life mission and how you can be a part of God’s plan to reach out to the world. This class will build on what you learned about yourself in Gateway 3. The goal is to help you formulate God’s plan for your life and develop your personal mission statement. The class will also help you build confidence in sharing your story by helping you understand how God has worked in your life through tough times.
